I loved building this set round my sisters today, she's a massive Lego fan and I'm a huge fan of NYC & decided to do a travel wall in my bedroom of places visited & this was the first set I have ordered to begin my Lego building journey as an adult. I received the model of New York City for Christmas it’s fun to put the build the buildings Looking forward to building other Lego sets!
The spare bricks and little statue were a plus. I’m an engineer by trade and really come to appreciate the little details of each brick, component, and building of this set, and many sets that followed. Bravo to Lego and it’s Architecture series. And voila! I found the enjoyment of building my first Lego set a second time. The rebuild took over the course of 5 days each, one to two hours each day. In order to test my patience for the rebuild, I purchased a lighting kit for this set to make it mow challenging. Mind you, this review is not a dig towards Lego, this was personal things I needed to work on. I needed to take time building and enjoy it. So I forced myself to break it down brick by brick and start over. I didn’t enjoy at first as I hoped I would. After each completed task, I felt I’m never going to finish, even with this 598 piece set. Mentally, I did get a little frustrated during the built. I took 4 hours of uninterrupted building. Fast forward to now, I win this set at a company raffle and was hooked after that. It was four sets of 30+ pieces and were of a race car, glider, boat and helicopter. When I was a child, the only Lego sets I collected in the early to mid 90s were earned through a promotion with Kellogg’s cereal where you mail the form with several UPC codes, if I remember. I have to say this was my least favourite to build. He enjoys the set though!! We are a Lego family so I know this isn’t the usual circumstance.Īfter building London and Paris I thought I’d get this New York to complete the set. My son ended up realizing it was an error and got through it, but it did cause him some frustration. I assumed the instructions error would be fixed by now but it’s still there. He enjoyed the build but there was an instructions error as I’ve seen mentioned in a previous review of this product in 2019.
